CAREERS WITH CHILDREN

Students will learn child care skills and strategies for working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children. Instruction includes the opportunity to plan and implement age appropriate activities and small group projects. Students will also develop resource information and learn about classroom management. This course includes an internship at a community classroom site. TB test is required for all students.

Internet Web Design - Students will learn the basics of web site design including development and maintenance while discovering the secrets of creating frames, forms and Cascading Style Sheets with HTML.  During the class you will create innovative web sites by adding graphics, sound and animation to your web page.

HEALTH CAREERS - CLOSED, Class is Full.
This class is the Prerequisite course for Medical Front Office and Medical Back Office/Clinical Assistant I & II.

This course provides the foundation for other health career related courses offered through ROP. Students will explore career options in the health field and develop an individual career plan. The course also covers anatomy and body systems, medical terminology, technology, vital signs and workplace skills. Students will be certified in CPR. (There is a $7.50 Red Cross fee for CPR Certification. This additional fee will be the responsibility of the student to pay.)

Students will be able to safely and correctly use appropriate tools; use a hammer and a dolly to repair minor body damage; use plastic body fillers correctly; set-up and adjust a paint spray gun for painting; develop MIG welding techniques; use a plasma cutter; set-up and operate a power pull; remove and replace auto body components, including bumpers; and, identify hidden damage.

CAD/SOLID WORKS*

This course is designed to develop entry-level skills in the operation of CAD. The course uses A+ CAD which is a 2-dimensional, Computer Assisted Drafting program utilized in colleges and schools across America. The commands are similar to AutoCAD. Students are also introduced to 3-dimensional (3-D) drawing. Macros customization and the Auto LISP concepts of CAD.

This course is designed to expose students to professional website design and management techniques using Dreamweaver CS3. Each class includes hands-on exercises that will lead students through the proper procedures to create professional websites using links, images, navigation bars, forms, media objects, sound, video, and more. Other Adobe CS3 software will also be introduced.

MEDICAL CLINICAL BACK OFFICE II

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Medical Back Office I competencies and a final grade of "B" or better on finals, as well as passing of interview evaluation.

The community classroom internship provides the student with actual supervised experience in a medical office or clinic to enhance those competencies acquired during classroom theory and laboratory training.

MOTORCYCLE/ATV/WATERCRAFT TECHNICIAN*

The program is individualized based on the student's skills, prior experience and interests. Students receive instruction in component identification, fault diagnosis and replacement,
precision measuring, rebuilding and repair, adjustment and servicing procedures for motorcycles, ATVs, small engines and personal watercraft. Instruction includes lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT) REFRESHER COURSE


Central County ROP's EMT Refresher Course meets the U.S. DOT's curriculum and the National Registry's re-certification requirements for an approved refresher course and includes additional curriculum hours which meet the requirement for Orange County Accreditation (OCEMS).

Orange County has specific requirements to recertify your EMT certification depending on whether your current license is inactive, expired, or about to expire. Two modules are offered and can be taken individually or together depending on your specific need. Check the OCEMS website at http://www.ochealthinfo.com/medical/ems/ for recert requirements.

CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT/HOME HEALTH AIDE (C.N.A./H.H.A)

This course prepares students to pass the Certified Nurse Assistant State Certification exam. In the class, students will learn how to deliver direct patient care related to geriatric and/or chronically ill patients. Topics covered include anatomy and body systems, medical terminology, technology, vital signs and workplace skills. Students will certify in CPR. Worksite training experience will take place at local medical/care facilities.

TRUCK DRIVING
Prerequisite: Must be at least 17 years of age.

Students will receive behind-the-wheel training in a Class A tractor-trailer to prepare them to take the Class A DMV driving test and become a license Truck Driver. Students will learn the rules and regulations used in the transportation
industry and yard training includes backing procedures and parallel parking.  The program emphasizes safe driving techniques and is intended for good drivers who have experience with manual transmissions, and have no DUI convictions. At the end of the class, students who qualify are taken to the DMV to test for a Class A license.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (E.M.T.)

PREREQUISITE:  Students must be 18 years of age within 6 months of course completion date.

Training will cover related medical theory. Students will go through physical skills training and participate in simulations and supervised clinical experience.  Class includes eight hours of ambulance ride-along and eight hours of emergency room observation. Upon successfully completing this course, students can apply to take the Orange County EMT Certification Exam.
